Title of Session or Presentation: Year End Close: What does that mean? Description of Session: This class will provide an overview of items you’ll find on a year end close checklist. What items do you typically see? You’re probably aware of some things like compensated absences and fixed assets schedules. What items might you not see but should be aware of? Come find out! At the end of this class you should be able to create, or revamp, your agency’s year end close checklist. Speakers: Katherine Yuen Krisch, CPA, CIA - CEO, Krisch & Company Heather Rowden - Advisory Services Manager, Krisch & Company Speaker Bios: Katherine Yuen Krisch, CPA, CIA Katherine is the CEO of Krisch & Company, a firm specializing in providing accounting and advisory services to local governments.
Katherine has 28 years of experience in municipal accounting and auditing. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge in governmental accounting and internal controls with her peers. She is a frequent speaker at professional conferences. In addition, she serves on the CalCPAs' Governmental Accounting and Auditing Committee, which provides practical guidance to CPAs in governmental accounting and auditing.
Katherine started her career in 1996 with a CPA firm specializing in municipal auditing. She spent the next 25 years of her career as an external auditor for governmental entities. In 2021, seeing the increasing demands of skilled accounting and advisory services in the governmental sector, Katherine established the Governmental Advisory and Accounting Services Department of that firm. Under a firm split arrangement in 2023, Katherine along with her staff in the Department became part of a new CPA firm, Krisch & Company.
Katherine holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of California, at Berkeley. She is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California. She is also a Certified Internal Auditor.
Heather Rowden Heather is an Advisory Services Manager with Krisch & Company, a firm specializing in providing accounting and advisory services to local governments.
Heather has over a decade of experience in governmental accounting and tax analysis. Starting out with sales, income, and business tax auditing, administration and legislative analysis, she moved to municipal finance in 2017. She has experience implementing policies and procedures for accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and treasury management, as well as financial planning and analysis.
Heather holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Ashford University and a Masters in Business Administration from Thomas College. This meeting qualifies for 1 Non-Technical CPE
