Below, is a list of all active committees, their missions, objectives, meeting times, and links to volunteer opportunities. If you are interested in volunteering for a committee, please complete the Volunteer Interest Form.


Committee Titles and Descriptions

Administration Committee

Mission/Purpose:
The Administration Committee is responsible for ensuring the effective operation of CSMFO, with a focus on administrative functions, policy development, and enhancing technology use.

Primary Objectives:

  • Review and update CSMFO policies and procedures.
  • Undertake special projects as directed by the Executive Committee or Board of Directors.
  • Administer contracts and execute contracts as directed by the Executive Committee and Board.
  • Improve technology usage within CSMFO and its member agencies.
  • Maintain the CSMFO website and internet presence.
  • Facilitate information sharing among members.

Committee Meeting Times:

  • Meetings are held every month on the second Thursday of the month at 2:00 PM PT.

Career Development Committee

Mission/Purpose:
The Career Development Committee focuses on promoting the professional growth of members through affordable and accessible training opportunities.

Primary Objectives:

  • Develop and review core courses and webinars.
  • Plan and execute the annual Weekend Training.
  • Coordinate professional development services.
  • Undertake special projects as directed by the Executive Committee or Board of Directors.

Committee Meeting Times:

  • Meetings are held monthly on the 2nd Thursday from 12:00 - 1:00 PM PT.
  • Also meets bi-weekly for webinar check-ins on Fridays from 10:30-11 AM PT.

Commercial Partner Committee

Mission/Purpose:
The Commercial Partner Committee works to foster engagement and feedback from CSMFO’s commercial members through regular meetings and event promotion.

Primary Objectives:

  • Host quarterly meetings with commercial members and CSMFO leadership.
  • Promote event sponsorships, including the CSMFO Conference.
  • Encourage engagement between CSMFO municipal members and commercial partners.

Committee Meeting Times:

  • Meetings are held monthly on the 2nd Friday from 2:00 - 3:00 PM PT.

Communications Committee

Mission/Purpose:
The Communications Committee enhances communication between CSMFO leadership and its members, ensuring consistency across various channels.

Primary Objectives:

  • Improve communication through CSMFO Magazine, News, website, and email.
  • Ensure a unified branding experience for members.
  • Develop policies and guidelines for communications and publications.
  • Coordinate messaging with CSMFO leadership.
  • Undertake special projects as directed by the Executive Committee or Board of Directors.

Committee Meeting Times:

  • Meetings are held every month on the fourth Thursday at 9:30 AM PT.

Finance Committee

Mission/Purpose:
The Finance Committee oversees the financial health of CSMFO, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with organizational goals.

Primary Objectives:

  • Review and oversee financial statements and records.
  • Oversee the preparation and implementation of the annual budget.
  • Evaluate and recommend new financial policies.
  • Collaborate with other committees on financial matters.
  • Support executive leadership on financial matters.

Committee Meeting Times:

  • Meetings are held every month on the second Tuesday at 9:00 AM PT.

Membership Committee

Mission/Purpose:
The Membership Committee recruits and retains members while ensuring that CSMFO's benefits align with members' needs.

Primary Objectives:

  • Recruit new members and promote membership benefits.
  • Solicit feedback from members on desired benefits.
  • Follow up on non-renewing members and outstanding invoices.
  • Undertake special projects as directed by the Executive Committee or Board of Directors.

Committee Meeting Times:

  • Meetings are held every month on the first Thursday at 11:00 AM PT.

Past Presidents Advisory Committee

Mission/Purpose:
The goal of the Past President Advisory Council (PPAC or Council) is to engage past presidents who welcome the opportunity to continue to be engaged in CSMFO, be a strategic voice to CSMFO Leadership, support committees and chapters, and be a general resource and ambassador for the organization. 

This committee is exclusive to past presidents.

    Committee Meeting Times:

    • Meetings are held bi-monthly (odd months) on the fourth Wednesday at 3:00 PM PT.

    Professional Standards Committee

    Mission/Purpose:
    The Professional Standards Committee identifies and analyzes emerging professional standards in municipal finance.

    Primary Objectives:

    • Disseminate information on emerging standards.
    • Support the development of new training courses.
    • Develop suggested systems and procedures.
    • Undertake special projects as directed by the Executive Committee or Board of Directors.

    Committee Meeting Times:

    • Meetings are held every month on the fourth Thursday at 3:00 PM PT.

    Program Committee

    Mission/Purpose:
    The Program Committee sets the Annual Conference's educational content and ensures attendees have access to valuable and timely information.

    Primary Objectives:

    • Conduct calls for presentations for the Annual Conference.
    • Coordinate with speaker bureaus and set the conference schedule.
    • Handle pre-conference sessions, speaker materials, and audio-visual needs.
    • Assign session moderators.
    • Collaborate with the Annual Conference Host Committee.

    Committee Meeting Times:

    • Meetings are held monthly, April through October, on Fridays at 3:00 PM CT.

    Recognition Committee

    Mission/Purpose:
    The Recognition Committee encourages the use of professional standards and recognizes excellence in budgeting and financial reporting.

    Primary Objectives:

    • Promote the use of professional standards through award programs.
    • Encourage better budget preparation and presentation techniques.
    • Recognize excellence in financial reporting and budgeting.

    Committee Meeting Times:

    • Meetings are held every month on the second Thursday at 10:00 AM PT.

    Student Engagement Committee

    Mission/Purpose:
    The Student Engagement Committee works to engage the next generation of professionals in municipal finance, with a focus on graduate and undergraduate students.

    Primary Objectives:

    • Reach out to political science, public administration, accounting, and finance students.
    • Promote municipal finance as a rewarding career choice.
    • Increase student memberships and participation.
    • Build a self-reinforcing cycle of student engagement to grow memberships.

    Committee Meeting Times:

    • Meetings are held every month on the third Tuesday at 12:00 PM PT.
