Numbers matter—but so does purpose. At Las Virgenes Municipal Water District (LVMWD), we’re looking for an Accountant who’s ready to put their financial expertise to work supporting essential public services that truly make a difference.
In this role, you won’t just be balancing ledgers, you’ll be helping ensure the long-term sustainability of water resources, supporting infrastructure that serves the community, and contributing to a high-performing public agency known for innovation and environmental leadership.

- Help ensure invoices are paid on time (you’ll be everyone’s favorite person)
- Reconcile bank statements and track down discrepancies like a financial detective
- Review employee timesheets (yes, accuracy matters everywhere)
- Provide guidance to accounting staff and help the team succeed
- Assist with 1099 prep and troubleshoot AP/purchasing issues
- Support audits and year-end close (you’ve got this)
- Help track capital projects and construction-in-progress accounts
- Jump in wherever needed—because teamwork makes everything smoother

- Applying accounting principles with confidence and accuracy
- Interpreting policies and regulations without getting lost in the fine print
- Leading or guiding others when needed
- Communicating clearly—whether it’s an email or explaining numbers to non-finance folks
- Building solid working relationships (because finance doesn’t work in a vacuum)
Physical & Sensory Stuff (the practical side)
- Reading detailed reports and screens? No problem
- Talking and listening—meetings happen
- Occasionally lifting files or materials (nothing too heavy)
- Using computers, calculators, and office tools with ease
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- At least 2 years of progressively responsible accounting experience
- Comfortable with accounting software and spreadsheets
- Experience leading or guiding others? That’s a nice bonus
