What You’ll Do
As our new Accounting Manager*, you will:
- Manage and oversee Accounting Division operations including payroll, cash receipts, fixed assets, and internal controls, ensuring accuracy, compliance with governmental standards, and efficiency of financial processes.
- Lead and develop staff, including hiring, training, evaluating performance, and implementing corrective actions to maintain a high-performing team.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations, including Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements and internal audits; and coordinate with external auditors to prepare the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
- Analyze and improve financial systems and procedures, recommending and implementing process enhancements, monitoring trends in municipal finance, and addressing sensitive issues or operational challenges as needed.

We’re looking for someone who:
- Inspires and leads a high-performing Accounting Division, shapes policies, and fosters a collaborative, results-driven work environment.
- Ensures the City’s financial integrity, applies GAAP and GASB standards, monitors internal controls, analyzes fiscal data, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Drives continuous improvement and effective communication, streamlines processes, prepares clear reports, and represents the City to governmental agencies, community groups, and key stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Education: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Five (5) years of increasingly responsible government finance experience, including two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity.
