Commercial Corner: Attention COMMERCIAL Partners!
Author: Wing-See Fox, Commercial Partner Committee Chair
May CSMFO is the premier association to be engaged with for companies that do business with municipal finance departments in California. That’s why our firms are
eager to sponsor the annual conference, chapter meetings, and other CSMFO events and activities; and that’s why we support CSMFO’s mission by volunteering our time.
While I know that CSMFO leadership values our financial support and appreciates that the association and commercial sponsors have a symbiotic partnership, they
may not fully grasp our diverse viewpoints and expectations of the benefits we prioritize in our involvement with the association. For example, CPA firms may highly value
the educational opportunities that CSMFO offers. Other companies may never attend a webinar but drive maximum benefit through networking with existing and potential clients.
Some firms are large national organizations for which sponsorship dollars need to stretch across the country, and others are sole proprietorships with limited resources.
As the Chair of the Commercial Partner Committee this year, one of my primary goals is to represent the diverse voices of the vendors and firms engaged with CSMFO
so that we can further align our interests. The Committee plans to deliver recommendations to the CSMFO Board regarding structuring of sponsorship opportunities and integrating
new commercial membership benefits—all while preserving CSMFO’s core mission and values. Do you have opinions or bold ideas about how we can further enhance sponsorship
benefits of most value to you? Perhaps you’d rather CSMFO offer commercial membership at the firm level rather than individual level. Perhaps you’d rather structure
financial support as an annual sponsorship that includes exhibiting at the conference as well as recognition at chapter meetings. Take the first step in helping
us shape the future of CSMFO commercial engagement by providing valuable feedback through the CSMFO Commercial Member Survey (it’ll only take a few minutes):
