Financial Management and Analysis – Modules 3 and 4 A CSMFO Core Course 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Wednesday & Thursday, June 11 & 12, 2025 CSMFO has developed a four-part course in Financial Management and Analysis. You will learn from practitioners with a deep understanding of financial management concepts about how best to implement sound managerial and financial policy decisions. These decisions will then be oriented towards achieving the goals and priorities of the organization while helping to achieve financial sustainability. The second part of this course, consisting of Modules 3 and 4, is scheduled over two days, builds on the foundation of the first two modules, and will go into more depth about financial management analysis and provide opportunities to work through various case studies and learn about forecasting, analysis, and reporting in practice.
Module 3 will cover how to manage short-term resources and obligations, the importance of internal controls, understanding the roles of cash, treasury, and investment management, and budgetary control through legislative agenda management. It will also provide an understanding of periodic monitoring and reporting of fiscal condition along with some practical examples and case studies.
Module 4 will offer specific financial health diagnostic tools, identifying tools to analyze complex data and key elements of financial statement analysis. There will be discussions about practical tools for financial condition analysis, financial forecasting, and financial statement analysis, along with a variety of case studies and exercises. Successful Outcomes:
- Read, understand, and analyze budgets, financial statements, and other financial reports.
- Interpret key financial metrics and information to aid in decision making for executive leadership and elected officials.
- Perform effective financial analysis to draw valid and informed conclusions from available data.
- Improve financial decision making through providing useful financial information and appropriate policy direction.

Refund Policy for Course and Chapter Events 1. A full refund to a course or chapter event (“event”), regardless of method of delivery (i.e. virtual or in person), will be provided to an enrollee provided the enrollee submits a request in writing at least 3 business days before the event by emailing office@staff.csmfo.org. A $25 cancellation fee will be assessed, and no account credits will be offered. 2. CSMFO will allow certain transfers of the event registration if the enrollee provides written notice (by emailing office@staff.csmfo.org) at least 3 business days before an event, as follows: a. The enrollee may transfer their registration to another event that already exists on the event calendar within the same calendar year. b. The enrollee may transfer their registration to another person for the same event. c. If the transfer is unable to be made to an event that already exists on the event calendar in the same calendar year, CSMFO will provide a full refund (no cancellation fees). d. In cases where such transfers result in a price differential (for example, if the new event has a higher fee than the event, or, if the transfer is being made from a member to a non-member), the differential will become due to CSMFO. 3. If an enrollee registers for an event within the 3 business days of the event and is unable to attend, no refund or transfer will be allowed. |
