THE POSITION
The Principal Accountant will serve as a key member of the City Finance team and will contribute by providing supervision and oversight to professional employees that are involved in a variety of accounting functions. The position is directly responsible for coordination of the annual year end audit process and issuance of the city’s financial statements and other required annual reports. The city is a fast-paced environment and that offers a close working environment with a talented, energetic, and highly engaged team.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
  • Provide full supervision to one Accountant and two Accounting Technicians
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions

  • Coordinate year end audit and financial statement preparation with City’s external auditors

  • Perform complex reconciliations and prepare journal entries

  • Prepare and maintain construction in progress, capital asset schedules, and grant schedules

SALARY RANGE
$111,111.00 - $138,762.41 Annually
$9,259.25 - $11,563.53 Monthly
$53.42 - $66.71 Hourly

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of increasingly responsible professional level accounting work, including two (2) year of supervisory experience. Governmental accounting experience is highly desirable.
