The 2025 CSMFO Annual Conference: Educate, Connect, Empower in San Jose is quickly approaching!  Whether you are a first-time attendee or coming up on your 25th consecutive conference, there’s something for you.  Whether you are a municipal finance professional, commercial member, or student, there’s something for you.

The 2025 CSMFO Annual Conference: Educate, Connect, Empower in San Jose is quickly approaching!  Whether you are a first-time attendee or coming up on your 25th consecutive conference, there’s something for you.  Whether you are a municipal finance professional, commercial member, or student, there’s something for you.  Coming with your family?  The City offers education, connection, and empowerment for them too!  Here is a roundup of conference and City highlights to check out:

Empowerment 2025: Leveraging Your Conference Experience and Your CSMFO Membership Benefits (Wednesday, 8:30 am-9:45 am)
To kick things off, this “Early Bird” session will provide a conference overview as well as suggestions for getting the most out of your conference experience, while also identifying strategies for leveraging your CSMFO membership benefits throughout the year. This is a great opportunity for first-time attendees to get the lay of the CSMFO Conference land.

Connect Space
On the first floor of the convention center, below our conference location, there will be an open Connect Space. This is a separate lounge and networking area for conference attendees. Feel free to use this space for impromptu catchups and chats!

Women in Public Finance Morning Mix (Wednesday, 8 am-10 am)
Start your day with some fresh air and camaraderie, hosted by California’s three Women in Public Finance chapters! Gather in the Hilton hotel lobby at 8 am for an invigorating power walk in the neighborhood. Along the way, the group will stop at La Vic’s Taqueria for their renowned breakfast burritos!

Wellness Room
As much value as connection brings, sometimes a large conference can be overwhelming, and we need a break from the hustle and bustle. For the first time, the CSMFO Conference is offering a dedicated Wellness Room (Room 114) for those who need a quiet and safe space to take a breath. Hydration and healthy snacks will be provided. If you find yourself in crisis and in need of help, information on how to access a lifeline connecting you to a trained counselor will be posted.

CSMFO Chapter Breakfast
If you’re well rested from the Thursday Night Event (or even if you’re not), join the Friday morning buffet breakfast in the Grand Ballroom at 7:30 am to network with colleagues from your local CSMFO Chapter! Tables will have signage, and there will be a map directing you to the right table as well.

San Jose Family Activities
  • Love amusement parks and rides?  Visit nearby California’s Great America or, for the younger ones, Happy Hollow Park and Zoo.
  • Museums and culture top the list of vacation must-do’s. Check out the Children’s Discovery Museum, The Tech Interactive, or the San Jose Museum of Art. Did you know that the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum houses the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts on exhibit in West North America?  Get spooked touring the puzzling Winchester Mystery House or go see a show at Broadway San Jose. 
  • Top-notch shopping and restaurants: San Jose is home to the upscale and luxurious Santana Row and Westfield Valley Fair Mall filled with world-renowned labels and destination dining. Experience Michelin-rated restaurants or authentic local Mexican and Vietnamese fare throughout the city. 
  • Iconic sports teams? Silicon Valley has those too! Whether the teams are in season or not, visit the SAP Center, PayPal Park, Excite Ballpark, or nearby Levi’s Stadium for events or gear.
  • Your family is the outdoorsy type? There are plenty of outdoor activities, trails, and parks in the area! The Sierra Vista Open Space Preserve in the Eastern foothills of Santa Clara County offers sweeping views of the Valley and diverse landscapes. Or stroll through the Japanese Friendship Garden in Kelley Park.
 
It may be a busy time at work and life, but you won’t regret attending the conference. Be sure to keep these highlights in mind! See you there!
