About UsOur MissionThe California Society of Municipal Finance Officers serves all government finance professionals through innovation, collaboration, continuing education and professional development. Our VisionCSMFO is the preeminent resource for promoting excellence in government finance. HistoryFounded in 1957, the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO) is a statewide organization serving all California local government finance professionals. The purpose of CSMFO is to improve the knowledge, skills, and performance of individuals responsible for municipal and other local government fiscal policy and management. Employees of all levels and elected/appointed officials involved in government finance for cities, counties and special districts in California are excellent candidates for CSMFO membership. Students who have an interest in local government are also encouraged to join and participate in CSMFO.Membership includes commercial finance professionals as well, such as: brokers, bankers, auditors, and specialized financial consultants. The organization reinforces the professionalism in financial management and provides a method for meeting the challenges of change and solving problems relating to government finance.
